Improving Anode Performance

Anode Nails reduce electrical contact resistance in the Stub To Carbon cast iron connection.
The benefits include:
- lower power consumption.
- lower operating temperature of the STC and yoke assembly, reducing electrical resistance, corrosion, metal creep and anode air burning.
- more uniform power distribution between stubs, and between anodes.
- faster new anode heat up and power loading, reducing the MHD disturbance to the reduction cell.

AluCellTech's cathode assembly technologies include:

These technologies provide the following benefits:
- reduce cathode electrical resistance and cathode voltage drop to save power.
- increase and decrease cathode to collector bar contact resistance along the length of the collector bar to improve the uniformity of current density over the surface of the cathode.
- reduce horizontal electrical currents in the molten aluminium layer, to reduce MHD turbulence
- decrease current density at the ends of the cathode to reduce corrosion and extend cell life.

Controlling your potshell heat transfer and frozen bath ledge thickness

Potshell heat transfer is a critical aspect of aluminium reduction. Potshell cooling fins provide extra cooling to maintain a protective frozen bath layer on the inside of the potshell walls, and may enable an increase in potline amperage by removing the extra heat.

Potshell insulation blankets reduce the heat transfer and would be used around the corners and bottom edges of a potshell to reduce the frozen bath thickness in 'cold' corners, or along the outside edges of the cathodes.

The magnetic mounting of these cooling fins and insulation blankets allows convenient application on only those potshell surfaces that require extra cooling or extra insulation.

The cooling fins may be attached to the potshell manually or with the aid of an extended tool to reach around obstructions.
